Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has dubbed Divock Origi the best finisher he’s ever played with
Mane has played with several outstanding goal-scorers in his career, including Mohamed Salah. Yet, when 11team sports on TikTok asked him to select the finest of all time, the Bayern Munich star surprisingly named Origi.
In other words, the lone Liverpool representation was Reds captain Jordan Henderson. Mane called the 32-year-old the best leader he’d met in the last 15 years.
Sadio chose his current Bayern teammates on speed, intelligence, and dribbling characteristics. Don’t let the Liverpool players see this!
Origi fails to score in
This should come as no surprise to those who have been paying attention. Jurgen Klopp even stated the same thing last season.
Despite failing to establish himself in the Liverpool starting Eleven following his £10 million move, he was clearly highly regarded behind the scenes. Unfortunately, this hasn’t converted into enough goals.
Throughout his time at Anfield, it was clear that Origi knew where the back of the net was. Yet, for whatever reason, this was never enough to keep him in Klopp’s team.
Nonetheless, 41 goals in 175 games isn’t a bad record, especially considering Divock spent the most of his time on the bench.
Nevertheless, since leaving Liverpool last summer, Origi’s productivity has plummeted.
The 27-year-old was seen as an astute signing on a free transfer for AC Milan, but he simply hasn’t found his feet in Italy.
Origi has been plagued by injuries, but two goals in 20 outings isn’t enough. With Milan trying to reach last season’s heights, the Belgian has not been a reliable back-up to Olivier Giroud.
Yet, many of Divock’s opportunities have come at the close of games. They might reap the benefits if they decide to put him on a little more. Simply ask Sadio.
