Liverpool may have won 2-0 at Newcastle last night, but Jaime Carragher believes there is still cause for concern
At moments, the Reds appear to be on their way back to their best. High intensity and pressure were back in their game at times, and they looked capable of creating opportunities up top. Importantly, Salah, Alexander-Arnold, and Darwin Nunez all looked sharp as well.
Despite the return of Virgil van Dijk, there were some nervous defensive moments. Furthermore, when watching the game on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher expressed concern that Alisson was so busy in goal.
“Alisson has been Liverpool’s most valuable player. “Klopp will look at it, and there are still things that will worry him,” Carragher said in a statement.
Alisson made several excellent saves, including a critical one at 0-0 when Miggy Almiron raced through. Callum Wilson also made some impressive saves in the second half.
Since joining from Roma, the Brazilian goalkeeper has been outstanding. He certainly earns more than his rumored £150,000-a-week wage at the club.
TBR Opinion: Alisson is still crucial for Liverpool.
The finest teams in the world all have a top goalkeeper, and Alisson is more than just Liverpool’s top goalie.
He makes difficult saves appear easy at times, which is what makes him so amazing.
Indeed, Klopp will be anxious that he was called into action so frequently. Alisson, on the other hand, appears to relish big moments and, more often than not, performs when called upon.
Alisson will be important if Liverpool are to make a late push for the top four. He certainly demonstrated how important he is at Newcastle, even though Klopp would prefer him to have calmer days.
