Leeds have now conceded 11 goals in their last two home games, despite appearing to have turned a corner under Gracia.

The Whites were down 2-0 just before halftime, but Luis Sinisterra gave them a glimmer of hope at the start of the second half.

Nonetheless, Leeds conceded just five minutes later, and Carragher slammed both Struijk and Junior Firpo for their roles in the goal.

Struijk made a half-hearted challenge on the halfway line, allowing Cody Gakpo to easily knock the ball around him and to Curtis Jones.

After skipping past Firpo, the Liverpool midfielder set up Jota for Liverpool’s third goal of the evening.

On Monday Night Football after the game, Carragher called Struijk’s challenge “embarrassing.”

“I’m stuck in Leeds,” he admitted. “Obviously, Jurgen mentioned that a lot of Liverpool’s goals came from forcing Leeds to make mistakes.”

“But that [Struijk’s] challenge is truly humiliating.” Then another from Firpo, who had been all over the place all night.”

Struijk has struggled since returning to central defense following Maximilian Wober’s injury.

The 23-year-old looked solid at left-back, while Wober brought some much-needed calm to the Leeds defense.

Gracia will be hoping to get the Austrian defender back as soon as possible so that he can move Struijk back out to left-back and shore up his defense.

Leeds had some encouraging results under the Spaniard, but they are now only two points above the relegation zone.
