The Reds have been keeping an eye on Enzo Le Fee, who recently made an emphatic declaration about his future plans, according to TEAMtalk.

“It’s time for me to leave,” the Lorient midfielder told Le Telegramme. I have a special connection to this club [where he was trained and signed his first professional contract], which is why I wanted to extend my contract at the start of the season.

“I waited until December for a contract proposal from FC Lorient.” It never arrived. I no longer expect anything from the club and will not extend any further.

“I intend to leave this summer in order for my transfer to bring money to FC Lorient.” Otherwise, with less than six months until the end of my contract, I’ll be free to sign up anywhere next winter.”

If Jurgen Klopp is looking for a cheap and versatile midfielder this summer, Le Fee could be a good option.

The Reds have been linked with big-money moves for Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice to bolster their midfield options, but with both potentially costing nine-figure fees, the Lorient man would be a low-cost option.

Football Transfers values him at €14.3m (£12.6m), and while the Ligue 1 club may demand more, he appears to be a very attainable target.

The 23-year-old is typically used as a central midfielder, but he can also be used as a number 10 just behind the forward line. He has a respectable five goals and five assists in 29 appearances for Les Merlus this season (Transfermarkt).

FBref has actually cited Bellingham as the second most stylistically similar player to Le Fee, who ranks favorably among positional peers in Europe’s five major leagues for a number of attributes.

He ranks in the top 3% of all players for successful take-ons, the top 5% for tackles, the top 6% for shot-creating actions, and the top 11% for assists.

The Dortmund star will undoubtedly be Liverpool’s top priority in terms of midfield targets this summer, but Le Fee could be a much more affordable option who has stated his desire to move.
