Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are interested in signing Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer

The Italian transfer journalist also revealed that Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Mason Mount of Chelsea is also of interest to the Merseyside club, as the Englishman’s contract expires next year and his future at Chelsea is uncertain due to his failure to sign an extension. As a result, if he does not sign a new contract in the coming months, he could be sold this summer.

Matheus Nunes has long been a target for Liverpool, and Romano has confirmed the Wolves star is on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist. The club was interested in him this winter, but a deal could not be reached. His impressive performance at Wolves could see him leave this summer, with the Telegraph predicting that Liverpool will make a £44 million bid for him at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, if Wolves fail to stay in the English Premier League, Nunes’ price tag could be reduced by up to £20 million, allowing Liverpool to sign him for a bargain price.

Our Opinion

Jurgen Klopp’s team has struggled to control games this season due to an aging midfield that is nearing the end of its life cycle and will require fresh legs this summer. Because Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are prone to injury, and James Milner is 37 and could leave this summer, Liverpool should prioritize strengthening their midfield.

Nunes is an appealing immediate and long-term option, as the 24-year-old has proven his ability in the Premier League. If Wolves are relegated, he could be available for a reasonable fee this summer.

Mason Mount, who has played in England and the UEFA Champions League, would also be an excellent signing for the Reds. A top-four finish, on the other hand, will be critical if Liverpool is to land Mount.
