Former Premier League footballer and BBC pundit Alan Hutton has weighed in on the potential of Liverpool signing RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol this summer
Earlier this month, it was claimed that the Reds are interested in signing the defender, who is said to be eager to go because he is a lifelong Liverpool supporter.
As a result, one analyst has shared his thoughts on the situation and what it could mean for the Reds if they were to sign him.
Hutton spoke to Football Insider about Gvardiol and a possible summer move to Anfield.
“I think he’s a terrific player,” he remarked. We’re talking about a lot of money, left-handedness, a wide range of passing, physicality, and size. I believe many supporters would be delighted to see him team up with a fully fit Virgil van Dijk.
“It is going to cost a lot of money and whether they are willing to spend that on a centre-half we will soon find out.

One of those goals came against Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 last month, demonstrating his expertise against Premier League opponents.
Do you want to see Josko Gvardiol join Liverpool this summer?
In terms of his efforts in the Bundesliga this season, he has the second-most totals of passes into the final third of the pitch, in addition to having one of the greatest passing accuracy percentages at Leipzig (85).
In addition, the Croatian has the second-highest total of clearances (57) and the third-highest total of interceptions (23), demonstrating his talent both on and off the ball.
Given that Liverpool has surrendered points on 13 occasions this season in the Premier League before to Sunday’s encounter against Manchester United, it might be argued that additional defensive reinforcements arriving at Anfield this summer would be beneficial.
Furthermore, with Virgil van Dijk (31) and Joel Matip (31) being two of Jurgen Klopp’s oldest squad players, a deal for the 21-year-old Leipzig star could be just what they need in terms of a potential long-term successor for any of their existing center-backs.
