Liverpool are confident of signing Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer, as Jurgen Klopp looks to complete his midfield revamp
Mount has emerged as one of the Reds’ top targets in recent months. Mount’s future at Chelsea is uncertain, and there has been no movement on a new contract.
Liverpool is expected to pursue several midfielders. Mount is one of them, with a proven pedigree in England that appeals to Jurgen Klopp.
And, speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Ben Jacobs believes Liverpool is confident in their ability to secure a deal for Mount.
“Liverpool will go for it.” “He’s definitely one of the top priorities, and there’s optimism at Liverpool that they can get Mount for a bargain because his contract is coming to an end,” Jacobs writes.
“Now we have to wait and see what Chelsea do in response to firm interest to try and keep the player because, even though he hasn’t had his best season, Chelsea still don’t want to lose Mount.” But, obviously, they won’t extend the summer if he doesn’t sign a contract and risk not receiving the fee.”
TBR Opinion: Liverpool must fight for Mason Mount.
Some players appear to be tailor-made for a specific team, and Mount is one of them for Liverpool.
His high-energy style, combined with his wealth of experience at this level, makes him a sure-fire hit for Klopp.
Mount could also use a makeover, so Liverpool would be getting a player with a lot to prove. Naturally, Chelsea will be upset if a player leaves for a rival. However, they may be forced to make a decision.
Liverpool must then keep pushing this forward in order to complete the transaction.
