Liverpool produced an outstanding first-half performance against Tottenham today, as Jurgen Klopp’s side returned to form
The Reds got off to a flying start and were three goals up inside 15 minutes against a woeful Tottenham defense. Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, and Curtis Jones all scored to send Anfield into raptures.
Of course, Diaz’s return is like a new signing for Liverpool. With a late push for the top four still underway, Jurgen Klopp will see Diaz’s return as ideal for his team at this time.
Diaz was brilliant at times against Tottenham before coming off. Former Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was watching for Premier League Productions, was impressed by Diaz’s performance and goal.
“He’s started with such zeal, with so much off-the-ball running.” It’s a great run for the goal. He gets in front of Romero, gets past the post, and finishes well, guiding it back in and doing it perfectly. There is no better way to leave than this.” Wright-Phillips explained.
Diaz has been a fantastic addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad. He was snatched from under the noses of Tottenham fans.
TBR Opinion: Luiz Diaz eyeing a move to Liverpool
Liverpool now has an attacking threat that most European clubs would be concerned about. Gakpo is getting better by the week, Salah is still flying, and Diaz is back. Add in the likes of Nunez and Jota, and Liverpool has a fantastic attacking lineup.
Liverpool will continue to compete for the top four spots. Manchester United is ahead, but if they lose and Liverpool continues to win, the pressure will increase.
Having Diaz back is huge. And if they do finish fourth or fifth, his return will have played a significant role.
