Tottenham’s league season takes off against Brentford in only a few days, and manager Ange Postecoglou still has decisions to make

The first XI under Postecoglou will undoubtedly be intriguing, with several changes expected from last season.

And, based on yesterday night’s strong performance against Barcelona, it appears like seven definite starting have emerged.

And there is no better place to begin than with a goal.

Guglielmo Vicario appears to be the club’s starting goalkeeper this season, and he’s only shown positive signs in pre-season.

The 26-year-old has long been regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents, and he’s now demonstrating why.

Moving into Tottenham’s defense to face Brentford, Postecoglou’s selection is less certain.

Cristian Romero appears to be a lock to start, with only Destiny Udogie appearing to have secured his spot in pre-season.

Emerson Royal is expected to fill one of the two empty positions in the back four.

When fielded in pre-season, the Brazilian has provided the team with greater balance and steadiness than Pedro Porro.

And there must be a strong case for Micky van de Ven to come in at left center-back.

Postecoglou is expected to start seven Tottenham players against Brentford.

Yves Bissouma and James Maddison are the two certainties in the midfield.

While only the latter is a fresh signing, both appear to have revitalized the squad.

Their pre-season performances should have given them a spot, and based on last night’s performance, they could be playing with Oliver Skipp.

Finally, in attack, there is still some doubt about the role of the striker.

Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski both appear to be solid wing options, while Harry Kane’s starting spot remains uncertain.

With a new approach from Bayern Munich expected, anything may happen with Kane’s future.

However, with the seven guaranteed starts listed, Postecoglou’s Tottenham team against Brentford is starting to take shape.
