Liverpool is interested in signing him. Ryan Gravenberch’s reaction when asked about a possible summer move to Anfield has fueled speculation that he may leave Bayern Munich

Ryan Gravenberch couldn’t help but smile when asked about Liverpool’s interest in him, despite the fact that the Bayern Munich midfielder has been tight-lipped about a summer move to Anfield.

Gravenberch, 20, has emerged as a target for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, who intends to overhaul his midfield options ahead of the 2023/24 season.

After withdrawing from the race to sign Borussia Dortmund talisman Jude Bellingham, Liverpool are expected to sign more than a midfielder in the summer following a disappointing Premier League season. Gravenberch, who would command a much lower price than Bellingham, is thought to be a good fit.

Although the former Ajax starlet was reluctant to comment when asked about interest from the Reds following Bayern Munich’s exit from the Champions League last week, BILD have revealed that Gravenberch couldn’t hide his smile when a potential move to Anfield was mentioned, indicating that a chance to join the former Premier League champions would certainly appeal.

Before the summer transfer window, the Reds have already held talks with Gravenberch’s father, Ryan senior, and his agent, Jose Fortes Rodriguez.

And Liverpool have agreed to match the midfielder’s current salary, resulting in a contract worth around £200,000 per week. It remains to be seen how much Bayern Munich would demand to sell the youngster, whom they acquired from Ajax for £16.3 million last summer.

Gravenberch has struggled to get regular starts since joining the German giants, and he has grown dissatisfied with his role at the Allianz Arena. A move to Anfield would give the maestro the chance to become a mainstay of Liverpool’s new-look squad for the 2023/24 season.

While signing Gravenberch would be far more financially advantageous for Liverpool than continuing their pursuit of Bellingham, competition for his signature is likely to be fierce, with Manchester United also interested in the Bayern Munich ace.

Other top midfielders, including Chelsea talisman Mason Mount, have been linked with a move to Merseyside in recent weeks. The Blues academy graduate is currently in contract negotiations with his club and could be available for a bargain price if the Londoners decide to cash in at the end of the season.

Matheus Nunes and Rubeus Neves of Wolves are also thought to be on the Reds’ radar. Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Declan Rice of West Ham have both been linked to Liverpool in recent months; however, both would command high transfer fees, putting them out of reach.
