According to reports in Italy, Serie A heavyweights AC Milan have rejected Newcastle United’s first approach for Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Eddie Howe wants to sign a top-tier midfielder this summer, and the club has been scouting a number of players throughout the current transfer window.
They have already failed with a deal for Inter‘s Nicolo Barella, with the Nerazzurri emphasizing that the player is not for sale.
Tonali has caught the eye of the Magpies, who made a €50 million bid for him on Tuesday.

However, according to Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri have rejected Newcastle’s initial bid this summer.
AC Milan do not want to lose Tonali, who has been a key member of the squad in recent seasons.
However, the Serie A heavyweights have their own financial limits, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle would return with a new proposal to put further pressure on AC Milan.
