Today’s interesting development regarding Manchester United’s interest in Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio comes from the Spanish publication Cadena SER
The player is actually staying at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, according to their source, barring a “last-minute surprise.”
Casemiro’s departure for Manchester United is said to have been the subject of one of the Spaniard’s two conversations with manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The manager there assured the winger that his role in the team will remain the same or even increase after making 42 appearances the previous year.
The Red Devils were also among the teams vying to sign Asensio, and according to Cadena SER, they made the player’s highest offer this summer, putting €33 million on the table.
That was apparently not enough to sign the 26-year-old, who’s nearly guaranteed to stay at the La Liga giants for one more year.
With Manchester United today confirming the €100m deal for Antony from Ajax, it seems they indeed had very different options in the market, with the Real Madrid player being one of them
