Enzo Fernandez arrived in Qatar for the World Cup six weeks ago having never started a match for Argentina.

Last Sunday, though, he was crowned world champion and dubbed the tournament’s finest young player.

The 21-year-stunning old’s exploits have piqued the interest of some of Europe’s biggest teams, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

According to a new report, Jurgen Klopp’s team, which is in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, has made a big bid to acquire the Benfica star’s services.

Liverpool’s £88 million proposal is turned down.

According to the Portuguese newspaper Correio de Manh, the Eagles have turned down a €100 million (£88 million) bid from Liverpool for Fernandez.

However, Benfica president Rui Costa flatly refused the offer because he wants to focus on the club’s current initiative, in which Fernandez plays a key part.

According to the rumor, Benfica would not accept an offer less than €120 million (£105 million), the stated figure of the player’s release clause.

Liverpool and Fernandez deal claims are bogus.

As previously reported, rumours that Liverpool and Fernandez had reached an agreement for Fernandez have been debunked.

Last week, it was reported that the Merseysiders had agreed to terms with the midfielder. Record in Portugal and Diario AS in Spain both reported that the World Cup winner has signed a preliminary deal with Liverpool ahead of a probable move to Anfield.

However, Portuguese writer Pedro Seplveda, who writes for SIC Noticias, claimed on Twitter: “It is entirely false that there is an agreement with Liverpool or any other team for Enzo Fernández.

“There are no talks with any team. Due to the 120 million release clause, Benfica will only sell Enzo in January.”
