Liverpool are likely to make significant changes to their squad over the summer

Liverpool are allegedly not planning to sell Luis Diaz in order to bankroll a major summer transfer revamp. The Reds have been connected with a number of high-profile signings in an effort to re-energize Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool’s primary target for the upcoming transfer window is thought to be Jude Bellingham. Mason Mount and, more speculatively, Kylian Mbappe have also been linked with Anfield moves.

With Liverpool’s inability to compete with the massive budgets of Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle, the Reds will have to sell players in order to get big-money players. Yet, Colombian attacker Diaz appears to be staying with the Premier League club.

The 26-year-old is said to be a “significant element” of Liverpool’s future plans. He’ll be back in Klopp’s plans as soon as he recovers from a long-term knee ailment.

According to The Athletic, Diaz will not be moved as part of Liverpool’s planned summer revamp. The former Porto man had a fantastic first year at Liverpool but has had a disappointing first full season.

Diaz was forced off the field with a knee injury during Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal in October. He had been out since a setback during the World Cup break.

But, the winger is expected to return to training in the coming weeks. Diaz is expected to return to competitive action when Liverpool visits Manchester City on April 1.

Nonetheless, Liverpool is still hoping to finish in the top four of the Premier League at the end of the season. Despite a dismal season, the Merseysiders are still seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham and have two games in hand.

Liverpool expects to revitalize Klopp’s team in the summer, regardless of where they finish in the league. A stale squad that has aged over the last year could look drastically different in 2023/24.

Liverpool are expected to rebuild their midfield at the conclusion of the season. Although Borussia Dortmund’s young star Bellingham is highly regarded at Anfield, rumors say that Liverpool’s chances of signing the English prospect are fading.

There is also speculation that Liverpool will sign Mount, Bellingham’s England teammate. The 24-year-contract old’s expires in the summer, and Chelsea may choose to trade rather than risk losing the playmaker for free in 2024. A move for Mbappe, on the other hand, is implausible given the large sums required in any potential transfer.
