The 23-year-old, who has firmly established himself as one of Europe’s top attacking talents, appears to be facing a new task in England
LIVERPOOL AGREE ON GAKPO DEAL, LATEST
On Monday night, Romano announced on Twitter that Liverpool and PSV had reached an agreement for Gakpo to join them. The transfer may be completed “later this week,” according to Romano.
“OFFICIAL: Liverpool have signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, the agreement has been signed between clubs tonight,” the Italian tweeted. Gakpo will sign the long-term contract this week since it has been entirely agreed upon as well. Liverpool will spend up to £50 million overall, or £37 million plus add-ons
Last night, Gakpo’s current team tweeted that an agreement had been struck and that the player “will leave for England imminently
GREAT MOVE FROM LIVERPOOL, IS THE CONCLUSION
It’s safe to assume that this should be a very exciting move for Liverpool and their supporters given how lethal Gakpo has been in front of goal this season.
The winger has not only scored and assisted for PSV this year, but he has also had the most shots on goal (49) of any player in the Eredivisie and assisted on the joint-most crucial passes (59)
Securing a deal for the Dutch star before the January transfer market even opens will undoubtedly be music to Jurgen Klopp’s ears given that the Reds presently have Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota out injured.
Gakpo’s addition to Liverpool’s roster will undoubtedly give them a huge boost going into the second half of the season, especially if he can bring the attacking form he has displayed for PSV this year to Anfield.
