During the summer transfer window, Liverpool had ‘casual contact’ with Mohommed Kudus.

According to The Athletic, the Ajax attacking midfielder is now interested in a move to the Premier League when the transfer window reopens next month.

Despite Ghana’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup in the group stage, Kudus has been one of the tournament’s bright spots. He scored twice in Ghana’s 3-2 win over South Korea.

The 22-year-old continued his strong form at Ajax this season. In 21 appearances, he has 10 goals and two assists, with one of his goals coming in the Dutch side’s 2-1 Champions League loss to Liverpool.

Kudus is reportedly being pursued by Premier League, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 clubs ahead of the January transfer season. His preferred destination is reported to be England.

However, Kudus might have joined the Premier League last summer. Everton had an agreement on transfer deadline day, but Ajax delayed the move after selling Antony, Lisandro Martinez (Manchester United), Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern Munich), and Sebastien Haller (Borussia Dortmund)

There was also alleged preliminary contact from Liverpool, though no transaction was pursued.

Will Kudus sign with Liverpool?

A potential move is still unknown. Kudus has improved his reputation this season, and despite wanting to leave Ajax in the summer, he may still have that desire.

If Jurgen Klopp decides to enter the market, he will prioritize center-midfield. Kudus can play the position, though he has spent the majority of his time this season in a more advanced capacity.

The Reds are well-stocked in the attacking third, despite injury concerns. Luis Diaz’s recuperation from a knee injury has been hampered, and he will be sidelined until early March.
