Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s head coach, has lavished praise on Diogo Jota following his return to form in recent Premier League games
Prior to Liverpool’s recent victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, the Portugal international had not scored in 19 games this season.
Jota scored twice as Liverpool boosted their European hopes with victories over the relegation candidates.
Jota ‘could leave’ this summer for £62 million, according to reports last month. However, you get the impression that Klopp will be desperate to keep him because he has been one of Liverpool’s best players in recent weeks.
Klopp praised Jota as a “super smart player” ahead of Liverpool’s game against West Ham on Wednesday night.
“He regained his speed. He’s a fantastic player. “He has done exceptional things since he joined us,” Klopp told reporters.
“Diogo is a very intelligent player who can play in a variety of positions.” He’s not the tallest, but he’s a dangerous threat in the air, good with both feet, and fast. He had a bad injury this season, as well as a bad injury before that. Nothing else was holding him back.
“His only issue this season is an injury, and he would be on more than four goals.” It was fantastic that he was able to score these goals for us.”
Liverpool is nine points behind the top four with seven games remaining, so they may need to win all of their remaining games to secure a place in the Champions League.

In midweek, Klopp wants his Liverpool team to be “uncomfortable to play against” because West Ham is capable of “playing some super stuff.”
