Liverpool fans are surely sick of hearing about potential new midfielders joining the club, but Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on two of the most heavily mentioned names right now
“Liverpool are monitoring Matheus Nunes with other candidates for the summer transfer window, he’s always been valued, even when he was at Sporting,” the Italian journalist wrote for CaughtOffside.
“The major focus is still on Jude Bellingham; Nunes is one of the midfielders they like; but nothing will happen for Nunes in January.”
Seeing Jude Bellingham’s name appear again is surely no surprise, and it demonstrates that we can all keep our hopes up that the Reds will be involved in a prospective deal for him this summer.
It’s a little stranger with Matheus Nunes because we missed out on him this summer and will now have to spend extra money to obtain his services for the upcoming season.
Furthermore, the Portuguese international hasn’t exactly lit up the Premier League this season, so convincing some of our fans that the 24-year-old is the guy we need may be difficult.
Given that none of these transfers is expected to be finalized until the conclusion of the season, it’s difficult to get too enthused when the need for a new man in the middle of the field is becoming increasingly urgent.
These are two talented players, and the allure of the Borussia Dortmund teenager is strong for many, but both of these prospective moves are months away from even being discussed.
