Manchester United are expected to step up their efforts to bolster their squad for next season as the summer transfer window approaches
Erik ten Hag will be looking for improvements in all areas of the pitch if United are to mount a serious title challenge next season.
Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham appears unlikely to join the ranks at Old Trafford.
Bellingham, arguably Europe’s most sought-after young talent, is expected to leave Germany in the summer.
Following successful advanced talks, widespread reports this week suggested that Real Madrid had won the race to sign the 19-year-old.
However, football correspondent David Ornstein has revealed that, despite being the favorites to sign the England international, a deal to the Spanish capital has yet to be finalized.
Ornstein claims that the other team in the race, Manchester City, has yet to make a formal offer, so reports that he is joining Real Madrid are premature.
???? Man City pursuit of Jude Bellingham well documented but no offers or numbers given to #BVB or player, nor higher salary proposal than Real Madrid. #MCFC view reports as Spanish media tactic before #UCL tie. 19yo keen on #RMFC but not done @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/OGqhKH76Ku

Bellingham’s meteoric rise has afforded him the opportunity to choose his next destination.
United were definitely interested, as they were close to signing the midfielder when he left Birmingham for Dortmund in 2020.
However, at this point in his and United’s development, the red side of Manchester never really felt like an option for the Englishman.
Ten Hag remains a fan of the player and hopes United are at the top of their game when Bellingham leaves his next club.
Bellingham has the personality to handle the pressures of playing for a large club, and if his career trajectory continues, he’ll be one of the best players in the world in the future.
