Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita in 2023
With less than a year remaining on his current deal, the 27-year-old midfielder’s long-term future at Anfield is currently in doubt.
Furthermore, the Guinea international has yet to make an appearance for the Merseyside Reds this season, which is notable given the club’s lack of fit midfielders.
Despite the current situation, the English giants are said to be optimistic about eventually reaching an agreement with a player who cost £52.75 million in 2018.
After being in and out of Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup for the past four years, Keita reportedly ‘wants assurances’ about his first-team minutes.
Keita has appeared in 72 starts and 45 substitute appearances across all competitions, with only 46 starts coming in the English Premier League.
As things stand, it is unclear whether Jurgen Klopp would accept such demands; however, Keita appears to be in high demand.
Borussia Dortmund are planning a move for Keita if his contractual situation remains unchanged, according to Bild via Fichajes.
Instead of attempting to sign Keita in January, it is reported that they intend to sign him on a free transfer for the start of the 2023-24 season.
Keita has played in the Bundesliga before, scoring 14 goals in 58 games for RB Leipzig between 2016 and 2018.
