A disappointing season has raised concerns about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp
Alisson Becker has revealed how Liverpool’s dressing room is reacting to a “tricky season,” emphasizing the squad’s faith in Jurgen Klopp to turn their fortunes around.
The Reds had a disappointing season in which their reigns as League Cup and FA Cup holders were ended early and they were knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 by Real Madrid.
Liverpool are unlikely to qualify for the competition next season, as they are nine points behind the top four with only seven games remaining, and will have to fight for even a Europa League berth.
Klopp’s team, on the other hand, is unbeaten in four games and could move into fifth place with a win at West Ham United on Wednesday evening.
“The spirit in the dressing room is one of fighters,” Alisson added. We’ve had a difficult season because we’re used to flying all the time. Everyone was used to seeing us fly in the past, but we are now in a different era. We must deal with the situation. We are doing so, and we are fighting, but we must fight even harder.
“Sometimes we have caused problems on the field by not playing well, but we are also the solution, so it’s not as big a problem as it appears because we know what we can do and what we are capable of.” We’re going to show that we can still fight for great things while wearing the Liverpool jersey.”
Liverpool’s 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday came after a thumping 6-1 victory at Leeds United, the Reds’ fourth away Premier League win of the season.
This season’s underperformance has sparked speculation about Klopp’s long-term future. Alisson, on the other hand, is adamant that the squad is completely behind the manager.
“Having him with us is massive,” the goalkeeper said in an interview with the official Liverpool matchday programme. “We have faith in him.” The club believes in him, which is exactly what the team requires to get out of a difficult situation. So we’re going to fight for him, for the fans, for everyone – for ourselves, for our families, to reach our goals for the rest of the season.
“I don’t believe we need to discuss the Champions League. Of course, it is our primary goal, but first we must assess and improve our current performance. We’ve had Thiago, Curtis Jones, and Luis Diaz back in recent weeks, which has been crucial because they add power, strength, and quality to the team.
“So we have to think game by game, step by step, and focus on improving our performances, scoring points, and getting back on track to win.”
