Liverpool’s quest for a place in the Champions League continues after a successful weekend on the field, and it appears that a boost has resulted from it

Liverpool have made an initial approach for Alexis MacAllister of Brighton & Hove Albion, and the Argentine is said to be interested in a move to Anfield.

Will Mac Allister depart from Brighton?

Only a few games remain in the 2022/23 season, and Liverpool have moved into contention for the top four after capitalizing on Manchester United and Newcastle United defeats over the weekend.

Only one point separates Jurgen Klopp’s men and the Red Devils, with the Toon trailing by two points, but both sides have a game in hand over the Merseyside club.

And there is still a lot to play for for Mac Allister and the Seagulls, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side capable of leapfrogging Liverpool if they win all of their games in hand.

However, it appears that the Argentine will leave the south coast at the end of the season for one of the more established ‘big six’ sides.

Indeed, reports suggest that a number of clubs are interested in signing the 24-year-old, with Manchester United among those expected to compete.

Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, claims the midfielder is being enticed by what he is hearing from Merseyside:

(5:10) “They presented the project and financial proposal.” It’s now up to Mac Allister, who is tempted. Liverpool is making progress, but it is far from certain.

“It’s not as if Mac Allister and Liverpool agreed on everything and the deal is now complete.” We’ll have to wait on that one; Liverpool are undoubtedly the favorites.”

Is Liverpool the best place for Mac Allister to play?

Perhaps the most appealing aspect of a potential move to Anfield for the £50,000-per-week Argentine is the club’s need for midfield reinforcements over the summer.

This can be seen in their reported interest in Jude Bellingham, which has since faded in recent weeks.

Although Liverpool are believed to have been forced to withdraw from the race for Bellingham due to financial constraints, it is clear that the Argentine will not be leaving the south coast on the cheap.

According to reports, the 24-year-old midfielder could cost Liverpool more than £70 million this summer, following a season in which he has been extremely impressive.

“Normally, the next book of passes will find him playing in another institution, we don’t know which one, the talks are just beginning in general, but most likely Alexis next month July is already playing for another team,” he told Argentine outlet Ole.

Following an impressive season in which he contributed nine goals and one assist in the Premier League, it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool’s league finish will be influential.

The Argentine appears to have plenty of options, and if Manchester United and Newcastle can offer him Champions League football, will he choose that over a place in Europe’s elite competition?
