  • Koreans felt themselves to be one at birth.
  • On January 1st, you will turn a year older.
  • The president has altered the rules.

WHAT OCCURED?

A recent modification in Korean legislation has brought age-related counting systems in line with the rest of the globe. Newborn newborns were once regarded to be a year old from birth, with a ninth-month pregnancy taken into consideration. In addition, regardless of the month in which they were born, all Koreans were regarded to be a year older on January 1 of any given year.

HOW COME SON HEUNG-MIN IS A YEAR YOUNGER?

A legislation approved in December following a campaign by newly-elected President Yoon Suk Yeol has officially taken effect, making all Korean players a year younger in terms of domestic records.

THE BIGGER PICTURE:

That is not the case with Son’s European exploits, since the Spurs attacker is still 30 years old, having been born on July 8, 1992. Tottenham will be unaffected as well, because when registering a player, they simply need to supply a date of birth rather than an age.
