Darwin Nunez, a Liverpool player, has spoken out about the language barrier that prevents him from comprehending Jurgen Klopp. He does, however, admire the Anfield manager’s efforts since his arrival

The Reds paid Benfica an initial fee of £64 million, with a further £21 million in potential add-ons, to clinch Nunez’s signing in June. Liverpool also agreed to pay the 23-year-old £140,000 a week until June 2028. Nonetheless, he has had a mixed debut season since arriving on Merseyside.

Nunez has cut an erratic figure at the top of Klopp’s frontline this season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists. So far this season, he has appeared in 25 of Liverpool’s games across all competitions. However, due to a red card in August, the striker was forced to miss three games.

Nunez, on the other hand, has nearly always been at the heart of Klopp’s attacking ideas when he has appeared for Liverpool. The striker from Artigas is frequently put in scoring opportunities. However, getting the ball across the line and into the net has proven to be a considerably more difficult feat.

According to WhoScored, only Harry Kane (78), Aleksandar Mitrovic, Erling Haaland (74) and Mohamed Salah (60) have attempted more shots in the Premier League this season than Nunez (56) has. However, he ranks third in off-target shots (23) behind Mitrovic (31) and Salah (22). (25).

One of the obstacles that Nunez may face at Liverpool is a language barrier, which he admits causes issues with Klopp. Currently, the Uruguayan star and German CEO do not speak the same language. Nunez, on the other hand, wants to understand everything as soon as possible.

“My teammates who speak Spanish are constantly interpreting since I still don’t understand a lot,” Nunez told Sky Sports. “However, keep an eye on me because I’m taking English classes. I’m hoping that after a year and a half, I’ll be able to understand everything.

“Because [Klopp] does not speak Spanish and I do not speak English, we cannot communicate. But he has always given me confidence when I arrived in Liverpool.”
