Jurgen Klopp’s term at Liverpool was extended earlier this year, and it now runs through June 2026
The manager’s apparent satisfaction with his situation on Merseyside and the German’s hero status among Liverpool supporters left little room for debate as to his future with the team.
Sadly, this season hasn’t gotten off to Klopp’s expectations. Despite playing one fewer game, they are now 10th in the Premier League, 11 points behind Arsenal and 10 behind Manchester City.
Although a title challenge may already be losing steam, Klopp is still committed to the cause and believes that renewing the contract was the right move.
The Liverpool manager made this commitment apparent in a recent interview with Sky Germany, stating that it would have been preferable to break ways if he had felt differently.
Speaking particularly about the contract renewal, he is quoted by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany as saying: “I always understood that I would prefer to stay here. 100% of the time, I’m still in the proper place. If not, you must put an end to it. Not doing so would be foolish. However, no one involved views things that way.
