Following Harry Kane’s departure, Gift Orban of KAA Gent has been highlighted as a top target for Tottenham, according to sources speaking with Football Insider.
On Monday (August 14), Football Insider said that Spurs will now make a bid for a talented striker in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, with Richarlison not anticipated to be the key feature in the number nine position.
Sources claim that following an outstanding first eight months at Gent of the Belgian Pro League, Orban has “blown away” Tottenham scouts.
The 21-year-old only signed from Norwegian club Stabaek in January, but in 22 appearances in the second half of the 2022–23 season, he managed 20 goals and two assists.
Orban has already scored five goals for Gent this season in just four appearances, including four goals in Europa Conference League qualifying matches.
In June 2027, the Nigerian striker‘s contract expires.
According to a reliable source who spoke to Football Insider, the youngster has “huge potential” and Spurs transfer bosses believe he can help the team replace Kane‘s goals both this season and in the future.
On Saturday, August 12, Kane signed a contract with Bayern Munich for a rumoured initial value of £86 million, which may go to £100 million following add-ons.
The captain of England scored 30 goals in the Premier League last season, which is tied for his greatest performance in the top division.
Tottenham, however, will not play in Europe this season due to their eighth-place performance in the 2022–23 season.
On Saturday, August 12, Richarlison took over as the line’s captain in Kane‘s absence, although he only managed two shots as Spurs were defeated 2-2 at Brentford.
