According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United are interested in signing Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window, but would need to make a’maxi offer’ to complete the deal
According to the Italian web outlet, United have not made an official move for the 20-year-old and will need to make a massive offer to convince the Serie A club to trade one of their finest assets.
Man United are looking for a proven goal scorer and have been linked with a number of attackers such as Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Lautaro Martinez, Dusan Vlahovic, Alvaro Morata, Goncalo Ramos, and Tammy Abraham.
However, it is believed that the club’s aim is to sign Kane, but it will not be simple as the 29-year-old has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid as a possible replacement for Karim Benzema, who has signed a three-year agreement with Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad.
The French striker, who won 25 championships in 14 years with Madrid, including five Champions Leagues and four La Ligas, announced his departure on Tuesday, prompting the club to enter the transfer market to find a replacement.
Tottenham are also keen to keep Kane, despite the fact that he has one year left on his contract, so United must keep their options open.
Man United recruited Burnley striker Wout Weghorst on loan for the second part of last season, but he is poised to return to Turf Moor after unimpressive performances. He only had two goals and three assists in 31 games across all competitions.
Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen his forward line this summer and has identified Hojlund as a possible transfer target. According to the source, United approached Atalanta about the Danish forward’s availability this summer in order to make a bid for him.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, if Manchester United made a ‘bid of roughly £51 million (€60 million)’ for Hojlund, it would be ‘disrespectful’ for Atalanta to say no, given that they bought him for £ 15 million (€17 million) a year ago.
In 42 games for Atalanta, the highly rated attacker scored 16 goals and supplied seven assists as the club finished fifth in Serie A and qualified for the UEFA Europa League.
He was one of Atalanta’s best performers last season and would be a terrific signing for Manchester United if they could make the bid and get his services this summer.
