We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist, as he’ll be providing his thoughts on the most pressing issues at Leeds United each week…
Rodrigo or Georginio Rutter could replace Patrick Bamford in Leeds United’s Premier League match against Liverpool, according to Paul Robinson.
Javi Gracia’s side is coming off a devastating 5-1 loss to Crystal Palace and will be looking to avoid a second consecutive home defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s men on Monday evening (17 April).
Robinson would like to see Willy Gnonto and Adam Forshaw return to the starting XI for the match at Elland Road.
“He’s got to make changes after that performance against Nottingham Forest,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News exclusively.
“He has to say something.” Sinisterra was the man of the match against Nottingham Forest. Gnonto must be reintroduced. Rodrigo could be used in place of Patrick Bamford.
“Liam Cooper” is a surname. If he’s fit, I’d put him back in the team, and while some may be surprised, I’d also give Adam Forshaw a chance. He’s been out injured for a long time, but the team lacks leadership.
“You get leadership with Forshaw, Ayling, and Cooper, and at this point in the season, you need leaders on the pitch.”
“There’s also a case to be made for Rutter to come in.” He and Rodrigo are competing to replace Bamford.
“The Liverpool game isn’t season-defining, but they can’t afford to lose.”
“On Monday, they can’t roll over and get their belly tickled.”
Luiz Diaz is set to return to the matchday squad for Liverpool’s match against Manchester City on Monday (17 April). Naby Keita, Calvin Ramsay, and Stefan Bajcetic, on the other hand, are all out of the trip to West Yorkshire.
