Liverpool could try to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa during the summer transfer window, according to GiveMeSport journalist Pete O’Rourke

Jürgen Klopp is anticipating a busy summer with plenty of transfer activity at the club.

Federico Chiesa joins Liverpool as a free agent.According to sources in Italy, Liverpool are considering selling Mohamed Salah and replacing him with Chiesa, since the Egypt international has struggled to replicate his recent form this season.

Salah will be 31 by the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season, with the Reds considering replacing him with younger players.

During the January transfer window, Klopp welcomed PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands winger Cody Gakpo in a move worth around £44 million, which appears to be the start of a rebuilding process at Anfield.

During the last month, transfer insider Dean Jones told GiveMeSport that Liverpool may make one more surprise signing before the end of the January transfer window, but no deals materialized for the Merseyside club.

And O’Rourke feels a move for Chiesa might happen this summer, though other Premier League clubs are likely to keep an eye on the Juventus star’s situation.

What did O’Rourke have to say about Liverpool and Chiesa?
“Maybe in the summer, he might have the likes of Liverpool and other Premier League clubs looking at him and seeing if they can capitalise on Juventus’ financial difficulties,” O’Rourke told GiveMeSport.

Would Chiesa be a decent addition to Liverpool’s squad?
Chiesa, who has previously been praised as a “genius” by podcaster Roger Bennett, would be a terrific signing for Liverpool, having previously played for Juventus.

The £54m signing has made 69 appearances for the Old Lady, scoring 19 goals and giving 16 assists, demonstrating his ability to be a constant threat in front of goal.

However, having recently returned from a cruciate ligament rupture, the 40-cap Italy international has battled for playing time this season, earning an average WhoScored rating of 6.43 in 208 minutes of Serie A action.

As a result, Klopp will be hopeful that the Euro 2020 champion can regain his match sharpness in the second half of the season as he searches for a long-term replacement for Salah in his front line.
