Arsenal legend Paul Merson has predicted Manchester City’s Premier League match against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday

With 10 games remaining, the Gunners are eight points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, who have a game in hand.

Arsenal will look to extend their lead against Leeds United this weekend, while City will be hoping for a slip-up against Liverpool.

After a fantastic 2022-23 season, Mikel Arteta’s team is attempting to lift Arsenal’s first Premier League trophy since 2004.

Pep Guardiola’s side, on the other hand, has won four of the last five Premier League titles.

When asked to predict City’s game against Liverpool, Merson told Sportskeeda, “This is a huge game for Manchester City and they cannot afford to slip up.”

‘If they lose points here, they could fall 11 points behind Arsenal. However, if City wins this game, the onus will be on Arsenal. If you’re an Arsenal fan, you’ll be hoping for City to make a mistake.

Liverpool will not dominate the ball and will rely on their speed on the counter with Salah, Nunez, and Gakpo. Manchester City does leave open spaces at the back, which Liverpool must exploit.

Liverpool have been a bag of rebels, and Jurgen Klopp isn’t sure what he’s going to get from his team. They’re beating Manchester United and City one minute and then losing to Bournemouth the next.

If Liverpool loses to City and then beats Arsenal the following week, they will have blown the title race wide open. Liverpool needs to win both of these games to finish in the top four, which would be a good result.

Liverpool’s season hasn’t gone as well as it has because of Trent Alexander-Arnold. He’s getting a lot of flak, and I’m not sure what Liverpool will do about it.

‘With him on the team, they’ve won the Premier League and the Champions League. I’d be surprised if Erling Haaland isn’t available for this game after withdrawing from the international break.

‘I’m not sure which Liverpool will show up, and I’m betting on Man City to win a big three points this weekend. Manchester City defeated Liverpool 2-0.’
