Mark Gonzalez scored twice for Liverpool Legends in their 2-0 win over Celtic at Anfield
Mark Gonzalez has admitted that he cannot explain his prolific scoring run for Liverpool Legends, after the Chilean surpassed his own overall Reds tally in the latest veterans clash against Celtic.
After being signed by Rafa Benitez, the forward scored three goals for Liverpool in the 2006/07 season. But, after scoring twice against Manchester United Legends last year, he now has four goals in three Legends appearances.
The 38-year-old doubled the Reds’ lead against Celtic with a well-taken finish in front of the Kop as they won 2-0 on Saturday. Gonzalez promised to add to his tally in the next Legends match, while also sharing his joy at being able to help raise funds for the LFC Foundation and Forever Reds.
When asked about his Legends scoring run, he said, “It’s the same question I ask myself.” “I’m overjoyed. I’m glad to be back, and I’m glad to have scored.
No matter if it’s a charity game, it’s always important. I always interpret it as a game of competition. My teammates and I have demonstrated that, in my opinion. awaiting more games in the future with the hope of continuing to score.
