Stefan Bajcetic, a midfielder for Liverpool, has sustained a season-ending injury
Stefan Bajcetic, a midfielder for Liverpool, has been declared out for the rest of the season.
After suffering a stress response to the adductor, the 18-year-old confirmed that he will not play again.
Bajcetic has had a strong debut season and has been a bright spot in an otherwise bleak season for the Reds. He has one goal in 19 appearances and has established himself as a regular starter in Jurgen Klopp’s engine room.
Bajcetic, on the other hand, was absent from Wednesday night’s 1-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League last-16 second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. Yet, with Liverpool facing an uphill battle to finish in the top four in the Premier League, they’ll have to do it without the former Celta Vigo prodigy.
“Unfortunately, I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out till the conclusion of the season,” Bajcetic wrote on Instagram. It’s difficult for me to say goodbye to this incredible season, but I understand that it’s all part of the game and will only make me stronger physically and mentally.
“I would also like to thank you Reds for all of your support throughout the season, and I assure you that I will try my best to return better than before.”
