According to The Athletic, the English defender might depart Liverpool before the end of the summer window.

Phillips has been surplus to needs at Liverpool for some time, and Klopp acknowledged before the FA Cup encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion that letting Phillips go would ‘depend on the offer’.

According to The Athletic, Phillips would be willing to join the Turkish club on loan until the end of the season or on a permanent basis.

Phillips has played 65 minutes of football for Liverpool this season. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he helped the south coast club gain promotion to the Premier League. Klopp has already hailed his ‘absolutely incredible’ progress, comparing it to that of Robert Lewandowski.

Chelsea owner boarding airplane to Lisbon to finalize deal for Liverpool target

Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s free-spending owner, is reportedly boarding an aircraft to Lisbon in an attempt to capture Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernández before the transfer market closes.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Fernández on numerous occasions, but any prospective deal for the midfielder was always more likely to take place in the summer rather than the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Boehly intends to fly to Portugal in order to press a deal to bring the Argentine midfielder to west London, fearing that a delay until the summer will allow Liverpool to enter the picture as legitimate competitors for his signature.

Fernández’s release clause is set at $131 million (£105 million/€120 million), and Benfica is unwilling to bend on that figure. Chelsea attempted to sign him earlier in the transfer window but were unable to reach an agreement. The Blues subsequently went to Moisés Caicedo, but neither they nor Arsenal have been able to persuade Brighton to sell, therefore Boehly has renewed his focus to Fernández.

With time running out, Chelsea’s owner appears to be desperate to complete a deal, taking advantage of the January transfer window to go ahead of the expected rush.

If Chelsea sign Fernández, it would be a blow to Liverpool and Klopp, albeit the Reds’ summer focus appears to remain Jude Bellingham.
