Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea star Levi Colwill this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

It has been speculated that the Reds intend to strengthen their backline by signing a new defender in the approaching window. They appear to be looking for a left-footed centre-back, since they have been associated with several names recently, including Goncalo Inacio and Willian Pacho, but Colwill is suddenly emerging as a genuine contender.

After progressing through the Blues’ junior system, the 21-year-old was loaned out to Brighton and Hove Albion last season to play regularly and further his career.

After demonstrating his abilities at the AMEX Stadium last season, the Englishman drew interest from a number of English clubs, including Liverpool.

However, the defender eventually decided to stay with his hometown club by signing a new contract. Despite the West London club’s troubles this season, Colwill has put in good displays.

Jones has now revealed on GiveMeSport that Chelsea believes other clubs, including Liverpool, are interested in signing Colwill this summer.

Jones has now revealed on GiveMeSport that Chelsea believes several teams will attempt to sign Colwill this summer, with Liverpool among those displaying a strong interest.

The journalist also reports that the Reds could make a formal offer to capture Colwill this summer, but the Blues are focused on maintaining their star player, with the defender willing to stay at his hometown club. So, in order to persuade Chelsea and Colwill to change their minds, Liverpool must make a significant offer.

However, Jones also claims that Paris Saint-Germain is interested in signing the youngster, so the Liverpool club will face stiff competition from their rivals in any prospective deal for him.

Colwill is a left-footed centre-back who also plays as a left-back. He is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out of the back, makes efficient defensive contributions, and reads the game well.

The Chelsea star, rated at roughly £43 million by Transfermarkt, is a highly skilled player with the potential to become a top-tier defender in the future. So, if Liverpool were to sign him, he would be a fantastic addition.

However, it would be intriguing to watch whether the Merseyside club can eventually acquire his services if they make a formal approach in the forthcoming window.

‘I can say’: Fabrizio Romano claims ‘influential’ manager will not join Liverpool.

Liverpool’s hunt for a new manager continues, but Fabrizio Romano has ruled out any possibility of one manager succeeding Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The Reds were knocked out of the Europa League yesterday after winning the second game 1-0. The damage was done last week at Anfield, where they were beaten 3-0 by Atalanta.

Klopp just has the Premier League to fight for right now, and we’re confident his team will give it their all to beat Manchester City and Arsenal to the crown.

However, they are now third in the table, and their fate is out of their control.

Regardless matter what happens, Liverpool will need a new manager this summer, and Romano has given his knowledge of one exceptional manager.

Fabrizio Romano presents his assessment on Gian Piero Gaperini to Liverpool.
Liverpool have been connected with several managers in recent months.

The Reds job is quite appealing, and most managers would relish the opportunity to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield this summer.

Ruben Amorim appears to be the front-runner for the job right now, but another name has emerged in the last week.

That’s Gian Piero Gasperini, who has done an excellent job as Atalanta’s manager since taking over in 2016.

Following Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, several believed that Gasperini should be considered to replace Klopp this summer.

Following Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, several believed that Gasperini should be considered to replace Klopp this summer.

That notion went viral on social media, and Gasperini stated that he is ‘glad’ to be connected with a move to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano has now expressed his thoughts on the chances of this happening this summer.

The journalist said that the links were created solely for the game at Anfield last week, and that there is no connection between the two parties. He made it plain that Gasperini will not be the Reds’ future manager.

He noted in his Daily Briefing yesterday: “Gian Piero Gasperini will have raised some eyebrows when he addressed rumours about him being in the running for the Liverpool job.”

“He remarked at his press conference before of the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final against the Reds, saying: “Of course I am thrilled with the links to the Liverpool job to replace Klopp, but my attention is on the game.”

“For sure, Gasperini has done a fantastic job at Atalanta in recent times, so I’m not surprised that, after beating Liverpool convincingly 3-0 at Anfield last week, there is some media speculation about him possibly replacing Klopp, but there’s nothing more to it.”

“Based on what I know, there is no connection between Gasperini and Liverpool. I believe these are links established only by Atalanta’s fantastic game vs Liverpool at Anfield. There will always be links to other teams, but for the time being, I anticipate him staying with Atalanta.

According to Italian football analyst Fabrizio Romano, Gian Piero Gasperini’s potential transfer to Liverpool only became public following Atalanta’s recent victory over the club.

The 66-year-old, however, is an excellent boss. He has done an excellent job at Atalanta over the last eight years despite not having the resources like Juventus, Napoli, and the two Milan clubs enjoy.

Gasperini’s Atalanta have also advanced to the Europa League semi-finals, and given what they achieved at Anfield, they can’t be ruled out of winning.

If it happens, Gasperini’s stock will skyrocket, but Italian football analyst James Horncastle says the Atalanta manager should already be regarded highly.

He went so far as to name Gasperini ‘the most influential Italian coach in the previous 15 years’ and pushed Liverpool to consider him.

Horncastle remarked on TNT Sports this week: “There is a large gap here [at Liverpool] in the summer, and Gasperini isn’t mentioned. In terms of resources, he has consistently outperformed himself over the past eight years.

“I believe he should be considered for all of these positions; Gasperini was burned in the past when he went to a huge job, Inter, which did not support him.

“At Atlanta, he knows he’s onto something excellent; he’s in his sixties, and he knows the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. He has a very nice deal; he is encouraged to stay here.

“But at the same time, we’ve spent the previous six weeks talking about [Xabi] Alonso coming here and [Ruben] Amorim coming here – this guy beat Amorim both at home and away, and went four games unbeaten against him. He has demonstrated his ability to develop and rebuild teams.

‘Physical freak of nature’: Journalist believes Liverpool star suddenly appears like a ‘different player’.

The midfielder received a 7/10 rating for his Europa League performance against Atalanta

Liverpool were eliminated from the Europa League on Thursday evening after failing to erase a 3-0 deficit against Atalanta. The Reds were well aware that they would have a difficult challenge, particularly in away territory. Jurgen Klopp’s side triumphed 1-0 on the night, but it wasn’t enough, as they were eliminated from Europe in the quarterfinals.

Klopp made changes in midfield, and journalist Andy Jones noticed that the German manager returned to a formula that had worked effectively for him earlier this season. Alexis Mac Allister was deployed in defensive midfield, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones serving as ‘number eights’.

Szoboszlai’s Influence Has ‘Drifted’
He isn’t having the same influence as before.

Szoboszlai did not play poorly against Atalanta, but it was evident that he was failing to make the same impression he made at the start of last season. He has struggled with injuries in recent months, which has shaken several players’ confidence. That, along with the pressure of needing to turn a significant European deficit away from home, would be enough to effect any player at least slightly.

Andy Jones of The Athletic wrote: “As Szoboszlai jogged off beside Salah, it was another performance in which the Hungary international appeared to be a different player than the one who took the Premier League by storm in the opening months. The Steven Gerrard parallels were a wonderful praise, but the 23-year-old’s enthusiasm, exuberance, and influence in games have waned. He, too, has been dealing with injuries since the beginning of 2024, but there were already hints that his impact on games was less than it had been in the past.

“The ball-moving creator of the midfield three and extra attacking man from deep lacks the same conviction. His pass map shows that few of the passes he attempted were in the final third or played forward.

“Where everything appeared so easy, it now seemed difficult. Earlier in the season, Szoboszlai could move across the pitch with the speed of two players – a physical freak of nature. He now looks human, just like Salah, and his effect on games has lessened due to a combination of form, fitness, and confidence.”

What is GIVEMESPORT Thought of Szoboszlai

GIVEMESPORT rated Szoboszlai’s performance away against Atalanta seven out of ten. Writer Callum Altimas was impressed with the midfielder’s “strong” and “fine” defensive performance, but he expected more from the 23-year-old in attack, which was lacking in Italy.

The player’s opinion was: “It was a strong performance from Szoboszlai, who has been a little off the pace lately. He contributed little offensively, but did an excellent job defensively, breaking up multiple Atalanta advances with crucial tackles.”

Mac Allister, a midfield colleague, received a seven out of ten, with GIVEMESPORT stating: “Similarly to Szoboszlai, the Argentine looked good defensively in the middle of the field and did a solid job stepping into the passing lanes with five interceptions, but he couldn’t quite get his game going offensively.”
