Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have won back-to-back games for the first time in nearly two months and are looking for a third straight victory when they travel to West Ham
With a win over West Ham on Wednesday, Liverpool can move closer to the Champions League places.
The Reds won their second game in a row by defeating Nottingham Forest in a five-goal thriller at Anfield, and they will be looking for another three points when they travel to the London Stadium next.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently seventh, nine points behind fourth-place Manchester United, and can close the gap with a win over West Ham before United travels to fellow title contenders Tottenham.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting end to the season, especially in the top-four race, as a number of teams compete for a place in Europe, with Brighton and Newcastle also firmly in the mix.
So, with that in mind, here is the most recent news from Liverpool.
Arthur receives praise from English coach
Arthur’s English teacher has praised him for the progress he has made during his time at Liverpool.
The Brazilian joined the Reds on loan from Juventus last summer and has since been learning the language as he integrates into the country. Sara Duque, a language tutor who previously worked with Tottenham’s Richarlison, has been teaching Arthur.
“I couldn’t be more proud of my student @Arthurhmelo incredible progress in English over the last 3 months,” Duque said, sharing Arthur’s progress with her 196,000 Instagram followers. He didn’t speak any English when we first met, and it’s amazing to see how far he’s come in such a short period of time thanks to his dedication and hard work.
“We set a high standard for ourselves, and Arthur has met it with admirable tenacity.” Of course, there is still work to be done, but we are ambitious and determined to achieve our objectives.
“Arthur’s progress demonstrates the power of hard work and perseverance, and I’m honored to be a part of his language journey.” Arthur, congratulations.
Liverpool is interested in Chukwueze.
Liverpool are interested in signing Villarreal midfielder Samuel Chukwueze this summer.
Jurgen Klopp may be prepared to reshuffle his Reds squad at the end of the season, and a right-winger may be on his wish list to provide backup for Mohamed Salah.
According to reports in Spain, the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are looking to compete with Real Madrid for Chukwueze’s signature this summer. This season, the Nigerian star has 13 goals in 41 appearances.
Chukwueze, 23, has many admirers, and Liverpool may have to compete for his services. Alberto Moreno is a huge fan of the winger, comparing him to Sadio Mane.
“He’s super incisive, fast; you never know where he’s going to go,” Moreno explained to Marca. “He’s also strong, young, and defined.” He reminds me of Sadio Mane. I’ve seen both in training, and they’re strikingly similar.
“He has a lot to learn because he’s very young, but he’ll become an even better player than he is [now].”
Antonio’s warning to Liverpool
Michail Antonio believes West Ham are “buzzing” ahead of their Premier League match against Liverpool on Wednesday.
On the weekend, the Hammers beat Bournemouth 4-0, thanks to goals from Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, Declan Rice, and Pablo Fornals.
It was a result that moved them six points clear of the bottom three, and Antonio is encouraged by West Ham’s recent results ahead of their match against Liverpool at the London Stadium.
“It has clicked overall and since the beginning of the year,” he said. Prior to that, we hadn’t been the best overall. This has settled the boys after a long and difficult season.
“It pulls us away from the pack, giving us a cushion away from the relegation zone.” It’s a good turnaround from the previous week, and we’ll keep the momentum going as we try to win the cup now.
“With the semi-finals coming up in the last month of the season, I believe another win secures the Premier League for next year.” We’re ecstatic.”
Declan Rice added, “The benchmark is 40 points, so we can’t get too comfortable.” We have Liverpool coming up next, and we love those kinds of nights.”
