Liverpool return to play tonight against Wolves, with Jurgen Klopp potentially able to pitch a starting lineup he has yet to try this season

Liverpool’s injury difficulties are starting to fade, allowing Jurgen Klopp to start young trio Ibrahima Konate, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Cody Gakpo together for the first time. Liverpool have been severely disappointing this season after coming within two wins of an unprecedented quadruple last year.

They’ve struggled to gain traction this season, with only 10 wins from 23 league games. Some players look to be lacking in confidence, while the majority of Klopp’s squad has been out due to injuries.

Konate has played fewer minutes than anyone else in Klopp’s first-team squad this season, starting just four league games. Many consider the 23-year-old as Liverpool’s defense unit’s future after impressing for his country at the World Cup when called upon.

He has been ruled out of Liverpool’s last five games, but Klopp has stated that the defender might make his comeback against Wolves. Nunez, who missed the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace due to a shoulder injury sustained against Real Madrid, returned to squad training on Monday.

The Uruguayan appeared to be on a roll after scoring back-to-back goals against Newcastle and Real Madrid, but an injury setback has shattered that momentum. He’d also formed a solid relationship with January signing Gakpo, who’d began to demonstrate his abilities in recent weeks.

With Gakpo and Nunez up front for the full-back to direct his vicious crosses into, Alexander-Arnold has also been at his creative best. All four will be considered for the starting lineup this week, either against Wolves or Manchester United later this weekend.

Because they are either 23 or 24 years old, the quartet is also seen as Liverpool’s future. Having all four players to play together for a stretch of games could be the key to unlocking Liverpool’s season in the next few months.

Klopp has recognized that the club is in a transition period, with substantial changes expected in the summer. The foundations are definitely in place for a squad capable of carrying the torch for years to come.

This week, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Nunez, and Gakpo will start together for the first time at Liverpool.
