According to reports, Liverpool are hoping to recruit Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as the first of three midfielders this summer
With James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-contracts Chamberlain’s expire, Liverpool’s midfield is in desperate need of an upgrade. In turn, Football Insider has stated that they intend to hire three new personnel for the department.
That would be long overdue, given how Liverpool’s midfield has been neglected in recent transfer windows. But, after a season of inconsistency, they recognize the need to rejuvenate.
As a result, there have been discussions with a number of potential midfield targets. Liverpool are prepared to compete for the signing of Tielemans from Leicester, according to Football Insider.
The Belgium international is set to become a free agent this summer, making him an enticing target. Because of his imminent status as a free agent, he has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.
Until recently, Premier League leaders Arsenal were considered the favorites to capture the former Monaco midfielder.
But, Liverpool are also competing to offer him the next step. According to the article, they believe he would be an ideal pick given his ability and absence of a transfer price.
As a result, in principle, his presence may spark Liverpool’s midfield overhaul. Having said that, they will face stiff competition for his services.
Liverpool must put themselves in the best possible position to persuade Tielemans that they are the place to be. The story makes no indication of his primary motivations for looking for a new club.
Tielemans, though, has earned the opportunity to represent a bigger club after 187 games in a Leicester shirt. Furthermore, he should be planning to spend his prime years at the greatest level possible at the age of 25. As a result, extending his stay with the Foxes is regarded as quite doubtful.
Tielemans to Liverpool may be a win-win situation for both parties.
Even if they do not qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool should remain a desirable destination for players. As a result, they will be attempting to win the race for Tielemans.
In theory, he could be one of the most straightforward names to bring in this summer. There will be no need for club-to-club negotiations because he will become unattached at the beginning of July.
However, Tielemans will most certainly receive offers from all across the world. One thing is certain: Liverpool should be one of the clubs offering them.
If he decides to join Liverpool, Tielemans should be able to take over as a starter. Aside from the trio who could leave Liverpool as free agents, there have been concerns about the shape of existing options such as Fabinho.
Furthermore, Tielemans, who is in his thirties, may be a better long-term solution than Jordan Henderson or Thiago Alcantara.
Tielemans has appeared 29 times for Leicester this season in all competitions. He has four goals and one assist to his credit so far. As a result, he might be a valuable addition to Liverpool’s midfield.
