Liverpool is all too familiar with this, having acquired Andy Robertson from Hull City in 2017 following 42 appearances in the second division for the Tigers.

James Madison is arguably the best example from the recent past. The midfielder for Spurs played for Norwich City in the Championship for two seasons; his second season was especially good. For the Canaries, Maddison racked up 14 goals and eight assists, earning him a significant transfer to Leicester City in 2018.

There is a ton of fascinating talent in the Championship right now, some of whom could go on to achieve great things in the Premier League and follow in Maddison’s footsteps.

But one guy in particular is dominating the second tier this season, and a lot of fans think he’s the best player in the Championship right now.

Liverpool is aiming for the Championship winner.

The player in question is Crycensio Summerville, a winger for Leeds United who is enjoying an incredible season thus far. With 39 games played, the Netherlands U21 international has 17 goals and 8 assists, helping Leeds battle for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Nevertheless, regardless of whether Leeds are promoted, it’s possible that the winger is destined to play football at a higher level the next season.

Summerville is reportedly attracting interest from a few Premier League teams in the summer, with Football Transfers reporting that Liverpool is particularly interested in the winger. The Elland Road team is asking a hefty price for the 21-year-old, and the Reds may make a £45 million offer for him.

Ruben Amoirm of Sporting, who is now the favorite to fill the vacant Anfield head coach position, may want to bring Summerville into the team if Liverpool names him their next manager.

Victor Gyokeres, who Amorim brought to Sporting from Championship Coventry last summer, may choose to shop in the second tier once more.

Football players Summerville and Gyokeres are completely different from one another; Summerville is a speedy, straight winger who Ben Mattinson on X refers to as a “one-vs-one monster.” Summerville is Amorim’s next EFL endeavor.

Mattinson, however, calls Sporting striker Gyokeres a “powerhouse.” A typical center-forward, the Swede excels at hold-up play and is clinical in front of goal.

Their reputation as the finest player in the Championship is, nevertheless, where they are comparable. As of right now, Summerville has 25 goal involvements in 39 games in the second tier this season. Gyokeres led Coventry to 21 goals and ten assists in the previous campaign, but they were unable to make it to the Premier League.

If Amorim signs with Liverpool, he might try to sign Summerville as his newest EFL project player. However, Leões would have to spend almost twice as much on the Dutchman as they did on Gyokeres, with the center striker costing £20 million.

It’s simple to see how Summerville would work in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation. Although Summerville appears to be a winger, Amorim like his wide players to play the role of number 10s when the ball is in play. The 22-year-old and Marcus Edwards, the right-winger for Sporting, are very similar. Both players are excellent ball carriers and powerful dribblers in one-on-one situations.

Fbref reports that this season, Edwards has averaged 4.73 progressive carries per ninety minutes, ranking him in the top 10%, while Summerville has averaged 5.08 progressive carries per ninety minutes, ranking him in the top 6%.
