Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing a teenage midfielder from Leicester City
Liverpool are allegedly close to signing Leicester City midfielder Trey Nyoni.
According to This Is Anfield, the Reds are in the “final stages of negotiations” for the 16-year-old talent. According to the source, the Merseyside club hopes to complete the acquisition “immediately.”
Nyoni has been with the Foxes for a decade despite being only a youngster. In an Instagram post, he appeared to announce his exit, writing: “Thank you, Leicester.” I am grateful to all of the players and personnel at the club who have helped me improve over the last ten years, and I wish them all the best in the future.
Nyoni played for Leicester in the U18 Premier League last season and also for the under-21 team against Porto in the Premier League International Cup in December while still just 15 years old. He also played for England at the U16 level, and was a member of the side that won the Montaigu Tournament in April.
Nyoni, who has been described as “tall for his age and adept both on and off the ball,” is anticipated to join Liverpool’s under-18 squad once his transfer is finalised.
