According to rumors, Liverpool are considering signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie on a loan deal in January
The Reds’ midfield has been a source of concern this season, with key players injured and a resulting lack of depth seen as a big issue for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Naby Keita has not played this season due to injury, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, and Arthur Melo have also missed substantial time.
But, with the exception of Arthur, three of those four players have been involved in the Reds’ Dubai training camp, with Keita’s return to action coming as a relief to Reds fans.
However, the Guinean, like Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner, is out of contract at the end of the season. Arthur, on the other hand, is currently on loan at the club.
As a result, Klopp’s team is looking for reinforcements and has been connected with Benfica star Enzo Fernandez and Borussia Dortmund important man Jude Bellingham.
However, current rumors indicate that they may be considering interim options in January to get them through to the end of the season.
McKennie has been linked to Liverpool
According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are willing to look into loan signings in January, with Juventus midfielder McKennie being mentioned as a potential alternative.
In 2019, Liverpool were linked with signing the US international, with Klopp reportedly mulling a deal for the then-Schalke player. However, he chose to join Juventus instead.
The Reds might now re-sign a player who impressed against England in the World Cup. McKennie was one of the top players for the USA during the 0-0 tie, playing the entire 90 minutes.
However, according to Tuttosport (via Il Bianconero), Juve would be willing to trade the 24-year-old for €20 million in order to fund the purchase of a new full-back in January.
