Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in signing Khephren Thuram, a 21-year-old midfielder, for next season
According to 90min, Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing Khephren Thuram. The 21-year-old midfielder has excelled for OGC Nice in Ligue 1. And many clubs are interested in the youngster.
Thuram has been called up to France’s Euro Qualifiers squad. The 21-year-old is set to make his international debut soon, following in the footsteps of his brother Marcus and father Lillian.
Thuram first joined AS Monaco’s youth system in 2016. He progressed through the club’s ranks before joining OGC Nice in the summer of 2019. Since joining the French club, the 21-year-old has grown in stature.
He has made 129 appearances for the Ligue 1 club and contributed 19 goals. The Nice defensive midfielder has been super consistent in the ongoing season. He has appeared in 39 games and scored ten goals.
The French international’s current contract with Nice runs until the summer of 2025. In the summer, he could be on his way to a bigger club. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed. Some of the world’s most powerful clubs are interested in Thuram. They will most likely pursue him in the summer.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool are two Premier League clubs interested in signing the 21-year-old. Jurgen Klopp’s team have struggled in the ongoing season. And a lot of it is due to an ineffective midfield.
The German manager wants to overhaul the midfield and has his sights set on the Nice defensive midfielder. Klopp believes he will be a good fit for the club and will provide them with many years of service. However, they are not alone in the race as United are also interested in acquiring his services.
Ten Hag wants to add another defensive midfielder to his squad. The Dutch manager is anxious to have a Casemiro backup and thinks Thuram would be a great addition to strengthen his midfield.
While both the Premier League teams are keen on the 21-year-old, they will have to battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain who are also interested in signing Thuram ahead of next season. It will be interesting to see who ultimately hires the French wonderkid as a result.
