Werder Bremen has verified Leeds United’s signing. Today, Ilia Gruev is not training since he is negotiating with an unknown team
Gruev, like Oliver Burke, is in ‘contract talks with another club’ and hence ‘free from training,’ according to the Bundesliga club’s official website.
This morning, Gruev was linked with a move to Leeds, with ITV journalist Chris Dawkes reporting that the Whites ‘are in’ for the Bulgarian international.
Leeds is still looking for at least two new midfielders before Friday’s deadline, with a number eight and a number 10 on the wish list.

The addition of someone like Gruev could make sense, given that Leeds’ front four on Saturday are tremendously attacking and provide little defensive aid.
Furthermore, Farke prefers his right-back to play high up the pitch, which new signing Djed Spence would definitely enjoy, and a defensive-minded midfielder like Gruev might help fill such spaces.
It’s one to watch in the coming hours.
