Klopp must now cash in on the “horror” Liverpool dud, whose worth has increased by 82.9%, according to opinion.

If sold, the Englishman may make a tidy sum…

Joe Gomez of Liverpool has had his fair share of success in Reds jerseys, playing a key role in the club’s historic Premier League title triumph in 19/20 and Champions League triumph the year before.

Nevertheless, subsequent seasons have not been of the same caliber for the ace, who has been at the epicenter of the club’s woes this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have failed to capitalise on an amazing previous season in which they won both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, falling just short in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Gomez, who has been described as being in a “footballing nightmare” by journalist Uri Levy, has undoubtedly failed to demonstrate the best of his abilities for some time now, but that doesn’t mean Liverpool didn’t strike gold when they signed him in 2015.

After joining Liverpool for £3.5 million from Charlton Athletic, Gomez has made 171 appearances and registered six assists, earning a variety of major prizes, but after nearly eight years on Merseyside, it may now be time to move the dud on.

Should Klopp make a move for Gomez?

Football Transfers values the 11-cap England international at about £29 million, and if he leaves Anfield for such a rate, Liverpool may recoup an increase of 829% from the initial fee paid for his contract.

Gomez, who was once dubbed “outstanding” by Martin Keown, still has a 6.92 rating in the Premier League this season, according to Sofascore, making 1.4 tackles and 2.2 interceptions per game while also completing 86% of his passes, and his robustness and physicality would pique the interest of many suitors if he became available on the transfer market.

Indeed, according to FBref, the 25-year-old ranks among the top 4% of positional peers in assists, the top 2% in progressive passes, the top 5% in shot-creating actions, and the top 7% in progressive carries per 90, demonstrating a modern skill set that continues to be a major factor in Klopp’s decision to stick with him.

However, with Liverpool linked with the likes of Croatian RB Leipzig colossus Josko Gvardiol, and the centre-back position indeed being targeted following the evaporation of former resilience and fluidity on Merseyside, Gomez may find playing time more difficult to come by if he remains on the books ahead of next season.

With such a shambolic season that threatens to disintegrate, a transfer away could be the most profitable option for all parties involved if Champions League qualifying – the bare minimum for the Reds – is not achieved, and with Gomez failing to impress to some degree.
