8 October, Liverpool Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed forward Darwin Nunez to rediscover his goal-scoring touch, urging the Uruguay international to keep his cool when finishing chances
Nunez has had a slow start at Liverpool, scoring two goals and assisting once in eight games since joining from Benfica for an initial fee of €75 million (RM340 million) in the offseason.
The 23-year-old was also suspended for three games after being sent off for an apparent headbutt on his home debut.
“I think he said himself he feels the pressure,” Klopp said yesterday to reporters. “He needs to calm down.”
“You can see the movements are exceptional, and if you saw him finish in training, you’d say, ‘My God.'” But obviously (he is) in a hurry in the games.
“He needs to calm down just in time to use his full range of finishing, but it’s not something you just have to feel as a striker.” Then it will progress from there. So, no need to change, just keep going.”
After seven games, Liverpool is ninth in the Premier League with ten points. On Sunday, they travel to face league leaders Arsenal. According to Reuters
