Jurgen Klopp has told Luis Diaz that he must rebuild his team around three Liverpool players.

Liverpool are expected to sign a number of players during the summer transfer window

Jurgen Klopp’s new Liverpool team must be built around the front three of Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo.

This is according to Djibril Cisse, a former Liverpool striker, ahead of an important summer transfer window.

Liverpool will finish the 2022-23 season without a trophy and may fail to qualify for the Champions League. They are seven points adrift of the top four in the Premier League, but have two games in hand on Tottenham Hotspur.

No matter where the Reds finish in the table, reinforcements are needed at the end of the season. The club’s top target is Jude Bellingham, with Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes also on the radar.

Cisse believes that transfers will be beneficial, and that the attacking triumvirate of Salah, Nunez, and Gakpo will be crucial.

“The rebuild at Liverpool depends on who they can buy in the transfer window,” the 2005 Champions League-winning forward told bettingsites.co.uk. There is talent in the squad, but it could be a cycle, and some of the players may want to see something new come in.

“A few more transfers will help the new players adjust.” But I don’t think it will be possible to build a team around newcomers or young players. Definitely building around Salah, Nunez, and Gakpo.”

Salah has 22 goals in 39 appearances for Liverpool this season, becoming the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League.

Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica last summer for an initial fee of £64 million. In 33 games, the forward has 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in January for a fee of £37 million. In 13 games, the 23-year-old has three goals.
