According to CBS Sports writer Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a bid for Jadon Sancho, who Manchester United might sell for the right price this summer.
Sancho has failed to live up to expectations since joining Manchester United for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund two years ago.
Throughout the 2022-23 season, the winger was in and out of Erik Ten Hag‘s starting eleven, ending with seven goals and three assists in 41 games across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham‘s interest in Sancho was initially revealed earlier this month, when The Daily Star (June 10) reported that Ange Postecoglou‘s team were preparing to make an approach for the teenager.
Spurs are not alone in their enthusiasm for the England international, with Football Transfers noting a few days later that Aston Villa are also keeping a close eye on the winger’s position.
Jadon Sancho would come at a high cost.
Jacobs has now confirmed that Sancho is on Spurs’ radar, but he believes the Red Devils will want about £60 million for the 23-year-old this summer.
“Sancho is not at the top of the list for Manchester United outgoings,” the journalist told GiveMeSport. But it doesn’t mean they wouldn’t consider it at the right price.”I believe the right price is in excess of £50 million, and possibly closer to £60 million, so that is a factor for Tottenham.”
Spurs are looking for a wide winger this summer, and Sancho fits the criteria well since he is young, native, and has the energy and attacking desire to succeed in Postecoglou’s system.
However, the winger would be a luxury addition, and one that Spurs may be unable to afford until they address crucial areas such as center-back and midfield first.
