Real Madrid, the La Liga winners, are allegedly interested in signing 23-year-old Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool this year
According to the French website Media Foot, Carlo Ancelotti is a major supporter of Ibrahima Konate. The Real Madrid manager wants to bring the 23-year-old Liverpool defender to Los Blancos this season.
Ibrahima Konate has been one of the most promising center-backs throughout his time in France. However, after joining RB Leipzig four and a half years ago, the young player has suddenly burst onto the scene. Despite his fitness issues, the Frenchman always displayed his brilliance when he was healthy and available before joining Liverpool in July 2021.
Over the last 18 months, the 23-year-old has played 33 times and contributed three goals and one assist, demonstrating consistent growth. Konate also played for France in the months leading up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. Furthermore, Real Madrid has shown an interest in the player’s growth.
Real Madrid has been monitoring Konate for some time. But, despite keeping a close eye on him, the Merengues have never fired a shot. However, because Nacho’s long-term future is undetermined, Real Madrid will have to invest money on a center-back. Several rumors also stated that David Alaba might play more left-back this season.
Furthermore, Real Madrid should be in fine shape if a young central defender is acquired, as the Austrian international is approaching the age of 30. As a result, Josko Gvardiol is now on Real Madrid’s radar. However, as the summer transfer window approaches, Konate could be a target for Los Blancos.
The 23-year-old has overcome his fitness issues and still has ten years of top football ahead of him. However, pulling Konate away from Liverpool will be a challenging task for Real Madrid. Despite the fact that the appeal of playing for the Spanish club remains high, Konate is one of the faces of Jurgen Klopp’s next Liverpool project.
