Gary Neville has admitted that he has run out of things to say about Trent Alexander-Arnold following his latest performance for Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold was involved in the attacking third once more, producing some fantastic moments for the Reds.

But, once again, he struggled defensively. The England man was at fault several times as Gabi Martinelli gave him a hard time in the first 45 minutes.

And Neville, speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, says he’s at a loss for words when it comes to the Liverpool midfielder.

“From then on, he was absolutely sensational.” I’m not sure what to say about him anymore. That is how bad his defense is. Some of the positions he takes, such as allowing Martinelli to spin in behind him, are truly schoolboy. “It’s the most fundamental thing,” Neville explained.

“However, some of the attacking play. Several deliveries. The courage to maintain his confidence and get back on track after those mistakes has to be admired. I have a lot of respect for him.”

Alexander-Arnold was recently dropped from England’s squad. Neville also mentioned it in the podcast, implying that something is seriously wrong with Trent’s defense if he isn’t chosen.

TBR’s Opinion: Big summer ahead for Alexander-Arnold Neville touches on this as well, but Trent has a summer ahead of him where he simply needs to work on his defense.

If he doesn’t, he’ll end up falling behind along the way, and his attacking play won’t be worth sacrificing the poor defensive performances.

The Liverpool player has the potential to improve. He has a lot of talent, and it’s up to him and the Liverpool coaching staff to make the most of it defensively.
