Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool’s World Cup hero, has been lauded by Joel Matip
The France international didn’t quite make it all the way, but Konate solidified his status as a rising star in world football.
Still only 23, the former Leipzig powerhouse [Guardian] helped Les Bleus finish second in what turned out to be a spectacular tournament in Qatar, concluding in a gripping final that Argentina won on penalties.
The Paris-born defender appeared in five games, starting three of them, and Matip has praised his Liverpool teammate.
“He’s so young and [he has] so much quality already,” he told the club’s official website.’
“He’s demonstrated that once again with the national team – with a wonderful team. He’s demonstrated his class. He’s self-confident, kind, and a truly lovely person. It’s incredible what he can do, even at his age. He’s strong in challenges, in the air, on the ground, the pace, [he’s] at ease with the ball – he’s got everything a defender needs.”
Matip isn’t wrong, is he?
Virgil van Dijk has been dubbed the world’s best center defender in recent years, and they are entirely true.
But just since joining Liverpool in 2018, when he was 26 years old.
Konate, on the other hand, is only 23 years old and has the potential to become a better player than his Reds counterpart.
