Alisson Becker was named Liverpool’s best player this season by Fabinho after the Brazilian international kept a clean sheet in the Reds’ 0-0 draw with Chelsea

In an interview with LFCTV, the former AS Monaco star praised his South American counterpart after Alisson impressed at Stamford Bridge, denying the likes of Joao Felix, Kai Havertz, and Enzo Fernandez in a game in which Chelsea dominated in terms of chances.

While Liverpool have had a difficult season, it’s difficult to place much of the blame on Alisson, who has been playing out of his skin for the majority of the season while the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have struggled for consistency.

And the Brazilian was impressive once again against Chelsea last night, and Fabinho was pleased to keep a clean sheet as his international debut once again kept the Reds in the game and helped Jurgen Klopp’s side claim an important point.

“It’s always good to keep a clean sheet,” Fabinho said of Alisson’s performance against Chelsea and his overall form for Liverpool this season. We must thank Alisson once more. Today, we needed Ali to help us, and he proved why he’s been our best player all season.”

Following Chelsea’s performance, Alisson will want to take Liverpool even further.

Goalkeepers can only do so much in the grand scheme of things, but Alisson, the Liverpool no. 1, will want to push his team to new heights after a strong performance in London this week, with a top-four finish still on the table for the Reds.

Clean sheets will be crucial for Liverpool if they are to make a late push for the final UEFA Champions League spots, and with Alisson starting to improve, the keeper will want to follow up his performance against Chelsea with big performances in the coming weeks.
